한국 근대 문학을 대표하는 작가 이효석의 고향에서 시작되는 이번 코스는 사이클리스트들을 조선후기의 방랑시인으로써 민초들의 삶을 현실적으로 표현하고 자유로운 형식의 시를 썼던 천재시인 김삿갓의 고향으로 안내합니다. 또한 주천강의 아름다움과 단종의 유배길에서 슬픈 역사를 기억해 보시기 바랍니다. 매년 9월 초에는 한국을 대표하는 축제로 손꼽히는 '메밀 꽃 축제'가 봉평에서 열립니다. 하룻밤 묵으면서 축제를 즐기십시오. 다음날 아침에 새하얀 눈송이로 들판을 뒤덮은것처럼 당신을 착각하게 만드는 메밀꽃을 볼 수 있을 겁니다.

When Buckwheat Flowers Bloom

Cyclists will go to Yeongwol, the hometown of Kim Sat-gat, a genius poet who wrote a free-form poem while expressing the people's life in a realistic way, starting from Bongpyeong, the hometown of Lee Hyo-seok, an exceptional author in modern Korean literature history. He wrote the most prized Short story titled as 「Memilggot Pilmuryop」 which is widely read of all short story in Korea and abroad. It opens up new possibilities of Korean prose style writings. English translation as 「When Buckwheat Flowers Bloom」.You can also enjoy the beauty of the Jucheon River while riding a bicycle, and remember the sad history of King Dongjong's exile route. In early September of each year, the Buckwheat Flowers Festival, one of the most representative festivals in Korea, takes place in Bongpyeong. Enjoy the festival while staying overnight. The next morning you will see buckwheat flowers that makes you confused as if they covered the fields with pure white snowflakes.
